Chapter Brussels

The Brussels chapter of the ICRC alumni is slightly different from other chapters of the association based in Switzerland. It is not only the first and only (till now) international chapter; its composition is also different. Members of the chapter are from a broad variety of origin: there are citizen from different nationalities such as Belgian, British, French, Germans, Italians, Swiss.... The former ICRC employees settled in Brussels either permanently or only for a few years.

The biggest majority of the members of the ICRC alumni registered in the Brussels chapter are currently working. They are employed in one or another European institution, by international or local NGO, in Belgian institutions or in the private sector.

Meetings of the Brussels chapter are opportunities for networking, to discuss humanitarian challenges, to speak about the ICRC activities or just to meet in a friendly atmosphere. Events of different nature are organized : friendly gathering around a glass in one of the café of the city centre, cultural events (theatre, concerts) and occasionally conferences/debate. Activities are announced by email and on the website of the ICRC alumni.

The chapter animators are Thierry Germond, former Head of ICRC delegation in Brussels and David Kootz, member of the ICRC alumni executive committee (vice president).  Do not hesitate to contact one or the other in case you have questions.
